The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lusaka ( Latin Archidioecesis Lusakensis , English Archdiocese of Lusaka ) is an in Zambia situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Lusaka .

history

Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Broken Hill on July 14, 1927 from cession of the Apostolic Prefecture Zambezi . On June 13, 1946, it took the name of Lusaka Apostolic Prefecture .

With the Apostolic Constitution Si sedulis she was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate on April 25, 1959 . With the bull Cum christiana fides on March 10, 1962 it was raised to the rank of metropolitan archbishopric.
