The Diocese of Chipata ( Latin Dioecesis Chipatensis , English Diocese of Chipata ) is in Zambia situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Chipata . It includes the Zambian Eastern Province .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Fort Jameson with the Bull Quo in Rhodesiae on July 1, 1937 from assignments of the Apostolic Vicariates Nyassa and Mpika . With the Apostolic Constitution Qui ad supremum she was raised to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate on May 7, 1953 .
With the Apostolic Constitution Cum christiana fides on April 25, 1959 it was raised to the rank of diocese, which was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Lusaka as a suffragan . It took its current name on April 15, 1968. The Bishop Medardo Joseph Mazombwe founded the diocesan in 1980 seminary that Maria is dedicated.
