history
Allendorf was first mentioned in 1331 as Aldinhorp . In the years 1541 and 1599 the place is described as fallen desert and had no inhabitants. After the repopulation, the place was therefore later called Allendorf in the deserts . The ownership of the village changed several times among different noble families : Frielinger Ganerbe who carried it from Hersfeld to fiefdom, later von der Malsburg 1541–1572, Spete 1535–1731, Meysenbug 1578–1787, von Hanstein 1587–1631, the Diede zum Fürstenstein 1739–1807.
On February 1, 1971, Allendorf was incorporated into the municipality of Kirchheim as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Before the Thirty Years War there were 18 men in the village, in 1673 there were 8 men. In 1747 there were 18 households.
