Alois Düll

Alois Franz Xaver Düll (born June 28, 1843 in Vienna ; † March 13, 1900 there ) was an Austrian sculptor of historicism .

Life

Alois Düll studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Franz Bauer and Carl Kundmann and at the Art Academy in Dresden with Ernst Hähnel . After a few years in Germany and Italy , he returned to Vienna, where he became a secondary school teacher on the Wieden . From 1873 to 1879 Düll was assistant to the general sculpture school of the Vienna Academy, of which he headed the sculpture class for Carl Kundmann for the last three years. After his death in 1900, Alois Düll was buried in Vienna's central cemetery.

Alois Düll was a representative of the historicism that prevailed during his lifetime. During the expansion of the Vienna Ringstrasse zone , he created facade figures on numerous monumental buildings that were being built at the time.
