Alor ( Indonesian Kabupaten Alor ) is an Indonesian administrative district in the province of East Nusa Tenggara .

The administrative district consists of the Alor archipelago , in the far east of Nusa Tenggara , north of the island of Timor . It is divided into 17 districts ( Kecamatan ) and 175 villages. The capital is Kalabahi on Alor.
Alor , the largest island, is divided into eleven districts, and Pantar has five districts. The small island of Pura between the two forms its own district.
population
In addition to two Malayo-Polynesian languages , at least a dozen Papuan languages are spoken in the administrative district.
politics
From 1999 to 2009 Ansgerius Takalapeta was District President Alors. In 2009 he was replaced by Simeon Thomas Pally .
