Aloys Brinkmann

Aloys Brinkmann (born March 10, 1898 in Höchsten , today a district of Dortmund ; † January 28, 1986 in Hagen ) was a German forester and conservationist .

Life

Aloys Brinkmann comes from a forest ranger family and was born in the forest house Höchst. He fought as a soldier in World War I , where he was wounded. He began his professional life as a district forester in Treis on the Moselle , but then switched to the Rheinische Provinzial-Feuersozietät in Düsseldorf as a forestry expert .

During Aloys Brinkmann's tenure, the area of ​​the Hagen city forest grew from around 900 to 1300 hectares.

1930 joined Brinkmann as a city forester in the service of the city of Hagen. During the Second World War , after a brief military service, he was responsible for supplying the population and the economy with wood. In 1952, the newly formed Hagen City Forestry Office was assigned to him as City Forestry Officer , which he headed until his retirement in March 1963. In addition to the municipal forestry operations , the municipal and corporate forests in the Ennepe-Ruhr district and the forest of the city of Bochum also belonged to the district of this forest office . His main achievement is to have converted smoke-damaged stands into attractive recreational forest . In the course of a forest conversion , he brought in resistant tree species. During his tenure, the area of ​​the Hagen city forest grew from around 900 to 1300 hectares .

Aloys Brinkmann devoted himself to hunting and nature conservation well into his retirement on a part-time and voluntary basis . He was involved as a district hunting advisor and in training for young hunters . For a total of 39 years he worked as a nature conservation officer, first for the urban district of Hagen and then from 1946 to 1975 for the independent city of Hagen. In 1949 he was also one of the founders of the Natural Science Association in Hagen.

The devout Catholic was also involved in the Hagen parish of St. Michael.

In 1971, the Federal President awarded him the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his honorary services .

Stadtforstoberamtmann a. D. Aloys Brinkmann died on January 28, 1986 at the age of 87 in Hagen.

In the Hagen city forest, the Aloys-Brinkmann-Weg from the forest car park above the Waldlust to the game reserve is reminiscent of the forester.
