Alphons Emil Friedrich Dürr (born August 15, 1855 in Leipzig ; † September 23, 1912 there ) was a German art historian and publisher .

life and work

Alphons Dürr was born on August 15, 1855 as the son of Alphons Friedrich and Helene Emilie Dürr. After private lessons , he attended the 1st Realschule in Leipzig from 1866 to 1868 , then the Thomas School . From 1876 he studied art history , archeology and history at the University of Leipzig under Anton Springer and in Berlin (there 1877–1878) . In May 1879, he was with a thesis on the life and work Adam Friedrich Oeser doctorate , as most extensive monograph is known to Oeser. In the same year he became a partner of the publishing house of his father.

On July 15, 1879, Alphons Dürr married Louise Keßler in Marburg . Between 1887 and 1899 he was a member of the board of directors of the Association of German Booksellers . He also held several leading positions in the German Book Trade Association and in the German Book Trade Association .

Dürr's extensive estate , including autographs by Theodor Storm , Ludwig Richter and Moritz von Schwind , is located as Dr. Alphons Dürr Foundation in the German Museum of Books and Writing .
