Altenhagen is a district of Celle . It is located in the northeastern part of the urban area. Its foundation dates back to 1377.

history

Altenhagen was founded as a street village and was first mentioned in 1377 as Oldenhagen.

On January 1, 1973 Altenhagen was incorporated into the district town of Celle.

politics

The local council has joint responsibility for the Altenhagen, Bostel and Lachtehausen districts of Celle and has 7 seats (3 CDU, 2 SPD, 1 Greens, 1 individual applicant). Local mayor is Hans-Martin Schaake.

Economy and Infrastructure

The place is divided into a new industrial area and the original district by the federal road 191 leading from Celle to Eschede and Uelzen . In the industrial area is u. a. the mail distribution center. The Celle – Wittingen railway line passes on the outskirts, and Altenhagen station has only been used rarely since passenger traffic was discontinued.

The center of the old part of the village is characterized by several agricultural farms and some craft businesses. There is a kindergarten and the local community center of the Celle parish. A large vocational school center with BBS I and BBS IV ( Albrecht-Thaer School) is located on the north-eastern edge of the town . The type of settlement largely corresponds to that of a Hagenhufendorf village.
