Groß Hehlen is a district in Lower Saxony in the north of the city of Celle . The connection to the city is via the district road 27 and the federal road 3 coming from Bergen . The village is connected to the neighboring village of Scheuen, which is even further north, via the state road 240.
history
On January 1, 1973, Groß Hehlen was incorporated into the district town of Celle.

Groß Hehlen has a joint local council with the districts of Scheuen and Hustedt with 9 members (4 CDU , 3 SPD , 1 GREEN , 1 independent ).
The local mayor is Axel Fuchs (CDU).
Culture and sights
The St. Cyriacus Church is said to have been mentioned as early as 1235 in an oldest document. The former bell tower collapsed in 1634 and was rebuilt in 1703. The nave was enlarged in 1640 and from 1963 to 1964 the church was completely renovated. During renovation work inside the church, valuable wall paintings , probably from the 15th century, were discovered.
