Vorwerk is a district of the city of Celle in Lower Saxony , which is northeast of the city center.

history

Vorwerk is a village that emerged from a medieval Vorwerk and belonged to the parish of Groß Hehlen . In 1936 the so-called weavers' settlement for workers in the Celle spinning mill (silk spinning mill) was built. After the Second World War, another housing cooperative settlement was built in 1950 for refugees ( Soziale Baugenossenschaft GmbH, Celle ). With the strong increase in the population, a separate school building became necessary. From 1952 the Vorwerkschule was built on Bosteler Weg.

From 1945 the British army took over the area of the Von Seeckt barracks at the gates of Vorwerk, and so again massive new living space was created in Vorwerk, this time for the British soldiers and their family members. Apartments for members of the British armed forces were built southwest of the old town center and behind Vorwerker Platz. With the withdrawal of the British armed forces from Celle, this living space became freely accessible to the civil real estate market.

Mayor Lange and the council members Wilhelm and Albert Knoop, Görgens and Wolckenhaar signed for the previous municipality of Vorwerk.

religion

The Protestant parish of Celle-Vorwerk was detached from the association with the parish of Klein Hehlen in 1969 and has been independent as the Matthäus parish since then. The community center with rectory and possibly kindergarten is located in the middle of the Vorwerk district in the immediate vicinity of the Vorwerk school. Since July 2007 the Protestant parishes Garßen and Vorwerk have joined forces to form a “connected pastoral office”.

The Catholic parish church of St. John the Baptist , built in 1974, is located on the road to Garßen . Affiliate churches in Eschede and Unterlüß also belong to this parish.
