Altserkowitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The street Altserkowitz is an inner-city street in the Saxon city of Radebeul , at the same time it represents an urban square as anger . With its development, it is the actual settlement core of the Breitgasse village Serkowitz . In a broader sense, Altserkowitz therefore also describes the medieval town center of the probably Franconian foundation, probably from the 12th century. Therefore the construction of the Angers or the street goes back to the 11th century.

Location and development

Serkowitz represents the district of Radebeul located southwest of Alt-Radebeul , it is located directly on the Elbe . The Kötzschenbrodaer road crosses Serkowitz. Directly in front of the Gasthof Serkowitz , coming from Dresden, branches off between the lot numbers Kötzschenbrodaer Straße 37 and 39 (the inn) to the south-south-west of the Gassendorf down to the Elbe.

On the east side, according to the horseshoe numbering, are the addresses Altserkowitz 1 to 9, Resthöfe, usually with the gable sides facing the Anger. Before number 9, the street narrows and turns to the southeast; there it crosses the Seegraben and runs in Dresden via Serkowitzer Strasse or the Elbe Cycle Route to Altkaditz , to the local Emmaus Church , where Serkowitz was parish for a long time. Nos. 8 and 9 are on the other side of the road on the border with Kaditz. Back across the Seegraben, before the curve, are nos. 10-13, in the curve then nos. 14. Along the Angers to the north are the addresses of Altserkowitz 15 to 20 two and three-sided courtyards, also facing the green. Then the property of the inn comes on the corner of Kötzschenbrodaer Straße.

Altserkowitz extends over Kötzschenbrodaer Strasse through Serkowitzer Strasse , which leads past Brunnenplatz and Rundling Am Kreis to the main street in Radebeul. A little further to the west, at the Alte Schmiede , the historic Serkowitz cattle drive begins with the Straße des Friedens , which continues on the Paradiesstraße to the Welzigberge .

Several buildings on the Anger are under monument protection and are therefore included in the list of cultural monuments in Radebeul-Serkowitz . These are houses at the top end of lots  1 , 3 and 4 on the east side and 20 , 19 and 15 on the west side. At the bottom of the Elbe, at the outer edge of the bend in the road with number 14, is the former Schäferhof . Behind the Schäferhof is Altserkowitz 13, the site of the former Talmühle , one of the seven historic Lößnitzbachmühlen , which, like the inn, is already listed in a deed of transfer from 1337.

Naming

The street green was called Talstraße for a long time . The name referred to the fact that it was the lower end of the valley of the Lößnitzbach, before it flowed into the Elbe after the valley mill was in operation.

The name Altserkowitz was dedicated in 1905 when Serkowitz was incorporated into Radebeul.

The Lößnitzbach coming from the Lößnitzgrund flows towards Serkowitz. It is crossing under Kötzschenbrodaer Strasse to the west of the inn and then artificially branching out: Straight ahead, it formed the regulated inlet to the Talmühle, which is now filled in. Otherwise it turned to the east, ran behind the inn and flowed onto the meadow. There the brook flowed down the middle to the Elbe, out of the Anger into the Elbe meadows and flowed into the Elbe. At the level of the valley mill, the water from the mill was added.

Due to the central position of the deepening of the brook, the properties on both sides of Breitgasse were separated from each other, with only a few bridges allowing the course of the brook to be crossed between the two ends of the village center.

Today the Lößnitzbach is piped: it is introduced behind the inn, flows into the Elbe in a water pipe under the Altserkowitz road and is then open again in the Elbe meadows. In the upper part of Altserkowitz there is a wide asphalt area, in the lower part there are two tree islands interrupted by a parking area.

The lake meadows mark the boundary between Serkowitz and Kaditz. Immediately south of the village center of Altserkowitz, the Seewiesen meet the Elbe meadows and the Elbe ; the Seegraben running through the Seewiesen flows below Altserkowitz into the canalized part of the Lößnitzbach just before its Elbe estuary.
