The building at Am Lessing 6 is a villa in Königswinter , a town in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was built around 1900. It stands as a monument under monument protection .

location

The villa is located above the old town at almost 85  m above sea level. NHN north of Landesstraße 331 and east of Bundesstraße 42 in the middle of the Königswinter junction .

history

After the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Germany in 1972, the People's Republic of Bangladesh , which had just become independent, set up the residence of its ambassador at the Bonn government seat in the villa . It was used as such until 1976/77. After reunification in 1990, the villa served as the office of the embassy (including consular department ) of the Laos People's Democratic Republic . In the course of the relocation of the seat of government to Berlin (1999), the embassy moved there in 2000/01. The villa is used privately again today.

The villa was entered in the monuments list of the city of Königswinter on March 4, 1998.

architecture

The building stands as a solitaire and one of two houses on the street in a spacious, densely overgrown park with older trees. It is two-story and covered by a half-hip roof. The villa has decorative shapes - including stuccoed consoles on the eaves - that can be assigned to the Neo-Renaissance . The base is in bands putz with a rusticated Eckquaderung executed. The upper floor has a balcony and wide, rectangular bay windows with arched windows . In the south-west, the villa is closed off by a polygonal oriel tower protruding over the edge of the eaves . The entrance is on the eaves side and is surrounded by a flight of stairs .
