Amit Tamir ( Hebrew עמית תמיר; * December 2, 1979 in Jerusalem , Israel ) is an Israeli basketball player . He is 2.08 m tall and plays on the player position of the center .

Player career

Tamir made his professional debut in 1998 at Hapoel in his hometown of Jerusalem. From 2001 to 2004 he graduated from the University of California on the Berkeley campus in the USA and used this opportunity to play basketball for the college's Golden Bears in the Pacific-10 Conference of the NCAA Division I.

After his return from the New World , Tamir first played for two years in the Greek basketball league , in the 2004/05 season at PAOK from Thessaloniki and the following season at AEK from Athens . In 2006 he left Greece and played for TEC Spirou in Charleroi, Belgium . A year later he returned to Greece and played briefly in Larisa before he returned to his native land in 2007 and competed for Hapoel from Holon . In 2008 he switched to Ironi in Ashkelon .

Amit Tamir is a member of the Israeli national basketball team .
