Amphoe Kantharawichai (in Thai อำเภอ กันทรวิชัย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the north of the province of Maha Sarakham . The province of Maha Sarakham is located in the center of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Kantharawichai District borders the following districts are (from south clockwise) to the Amphoe Mueang Maha Sarakham , Kosum Phisai and Chiang Yuen in the province of Maha Sarakham and to the Amphoe Yang Talat and Khong Chai the province of Kalasin .

history

The history of the district goes back to the Mueang Kanthang ( กัน ทาง ), it was founded in 1785 under the name Khanthathirat ( คัน ธา ธิ ราช ). In 1874 it was renamed Mueang Kantharawichai, and in 1900 it was changed to an amphoe. In 1913 he was subordinated to Maha Sarakham Province by Kalasin, and in 1915 the administration was opened in Ban Khok Phra. In 1917 the district was renamed Khok Phra, but in 1939 the historical name was restored.

Local administration

There are three municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Khok Phra (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โคก พระ ), consisting of parts of the tambon Khok Phra.
  • Tha Khon Yang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ขอน ยาง ), consisting of the entire Tambon Tha Khon Yang,
  • Kham Riang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ขาม เรียง ), consisting of the entire Tambon Kham Riang.

There are also eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):
