Amphoe Kosum Phisai ( Thai อำเภอ โกสุมพิสัย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the north of the province of Maha Sarakham . The province of Maha Sarakham is located in the center of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Amphoe Kosum Phisai borders the following districts (clockwise from north): Amphoe Chiang Yuen , Kantharawichai , Mueang Maha Sarakham , Borabue and Kut Rang in the province of Maha Sarakham, as well as Amphoe Ban Phai , Ban Haet and Mueang Khon Kaen of Khon Kaen Province .
