Amphoe Wiang Chiang Rung (in Thai : อำเภอ เวียง เชียง รุ้ง , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː wīaŋ tɕʰīaŋ rúŋ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of the Chiang Rai Province . Chiang Rai Province is located in the far north of the northern region of Thailand .

Neighboring counties (clockwise from west): Amphoe Mueang Chiang Rai , Doi Luang , Chiang Khong , Phaya Mengrai and Wiang Chai of Chiang Rai Province.

history

The circle was founded on April 1, 1995 initially as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) under the name Chiang Rung , consisting of tambon , which was split off from the Wiang Chai circle . On March 1, 1996, this subdistrict was renamed Wiang Chiang Rung .

On May 15, 2007 the Thai government decided to raise all 81 King Amphoe to simple amphoe status in order to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.

Local administration

There is one municipality with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Ban Lao (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน เหล่า ) consisting of the parts of the Tambon Thung Ko, Dong Maha Wan.

There are also three " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

  • Thung Ko (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ทุ่ง ก่อ ) consisting of parts of the tambon Thung Ko.
  • Dong Maha Wan (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ดง มหา วัน ) consisting of parts of the tambon Dong Maha Wan.
  • Pa Sang (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ป่าซาง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Pa Sang.
