Amphoe Doi Luang ( Thai : อำเภอ ดอย หลวง , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː dɔ̄ːj lǔaŋ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the north of Chiang Rai Province . Chiang Rai Province is located in the far north of the northern region of Thailand .

Neighboring counties (clockwise from north): Chiang Saen , Chiang Khong , Wiang Chiang Rung, and Mae Chan Amphoe .

history

Doi Luang was founded on July 15, 1996 as a "branch circle " ( King Amphoe ) , consisting of tambon that was split off from Mae Chan County . The Thai government decided on May 15, 2007 that all 81 subdistricts should be granted full Amphoe status. This decision became official on August 24, 2007 when it was published in the Royal Gazette.

There are no cities ( thesaban ) in the district.

In the district there are three " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

  • Pong Noi (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ป ง น้อย ) consisting of the complete Tambon Pong Noi.
  • Chok Chai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล โชคชัย ) consisting of the complete Tambon Chok Chai.
  • Nong Pa Ko (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง ป่า ก่อ ) consisting of the complete tambon Nong Pa Ko.
