Amphoe Wiang Kaen ( Thai : อำเภอ เวียง แก่น , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː wīaŋ kɛ̀ːn ) is the easternmost district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of Chiang Rai Province . Chiang Rai Province is located in the far north of the northern region of Thailand .

history

Wiang Kaen was founded on April 1, 1987 as a "branch circle " ( King Amphoe ) , consisting of the three tambon Muang Yai, Po and Lai Ngao, which were split off from Chiang Khong County . On September 7, 1995 Wiang Kaen received full amphoe status.

Muang Yai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ม่วง ยาย ) consisting of the complete tambon Muang Yai.
Lai Ngao (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ห ล่า ย งาว ) consisting of the complete tambon Lai Ngao.
Tha Kham (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ข้าม ) consisting of the complete Tambon Tha Kham.

There is also a " Tambon Administration Organization " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organization, TAO)

Po (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ปอ ) consisting of the complete tambon Po.
