The Thalfang mark was an administrative district in the Trier region since 1112 and consisted of the villages Thalfang , Bäsch , Burtscheid , Deuselbach , Dhronecken , Etgert , Gielert , Hilscheid , Immert , Lückenburg , Rorodt and Talling in today's Verbandsgemeinde Thalfang am Erbeskopf in the district of Bernkastel- Wittlich , Rhineland-Palatinate .

Also Prosterath belonged temporarily to the villages and Gospert and Röder Bach that are extinct. The Thalfang mark from the high Middle Ages resulted in the Tronecken office (Dhronecken office) at the beginning of the 14th century . The officials Berchram von Budenberg (1373), Simon von Rüdesheim (1427) and Claus von Kellenbach (1495) are proven.

The office was located at Dhronecken Castle and existed until France conquered the area on the left bank of the Rhine . The French invaded Mark Thalfang on October 8, 1794. The French conquerors divided the area on the left bank of the Rhine into departments and cantons in 1798 and then into Mairien ( mayor's offices) as the lowest state administrative units in 1800 . The mark as an administrative unit was dissolved. Two mairies arose from their area and parts of the Electorate of Trier , namely Thalfang and Talling.

To Mairie Thalfang the Mark communities were Thalfang, Bäsch, Burtscheid, Dhronecken, Deuselbach, Etgert, Hilscheid, Immert and Rorodt and the community Malborn that lay outside the marrow. The Mairie belonged to the canton Hermeskeil in the arrondissement de Birkenfeld of the Saardepartements .

To Mairie Talling the Mark communities were Talling, Gielert and Lückenburg and the municipalities Berglicht , Neunkirchen and Schoenberg from outside the marrow. The Mairie belonged to the canton Büdlich in the arrondissement de Trèves of the Saardepartements.

These administrative borders existed until the beginning of 1814. After the Congress of Vienna , the area on the left bank of the Rhine became part of the Kingdom of Prussia . The administrative boundaries of the Mairien were taken over and mayorships were formed. From 1819 the business of the mayor was carried out in personal union by the mayor of the mayor's office in Thalfang. The Talling mayor's office was dissolved on January 1, 1859, and its area was merged with the Thalfang mayor's office. The new mayor's office in Thalfang thus consisted of 16 communities and remained untouched for 110 years until 1969. From 1928 it was designated as an office and since 1968 as a Verbandsgemeinde .

The association of 12 municipalities administers the Haardtwald , the kindergartens and the cemetery in Thalfang.
