Arrondissement de Trier
The Arrondissement de Trier ( Arrondissement Trier , Arrondissement de Trèves ) was an administrative subdivision in France that existed from February 17, 1800 to April 11, 1814. It was subordinated to the Département de la Sarre ( Saardépartement ), which had its seat in Trier in the Palais Walderdorff .
In the Arrondissement of Trier there were the following 8 cantons with a total of 41 Mairien (mayor's offices):
- Canton Bernkastel , 4 Mairien: Bernkastel , Lieser , Mülheim and Zeltingen
- Canton Büdlich , 6 Mairien: Beuren , Heidenburg , Leiwen , Neumagen , Niederemmel and Talling
- Canton Konz , 4 Mairien: Irsch , Konz , Oberemmel and Schöndorf
- Canton Pfalzel , 7 Mairien: Aach , Ehrang , Idenheim , Pfalzel , Ruwer , Trierweiler and Welschbillig
- Canton Saarburg , 7 Mairien: Freudenburg , Irsch , Meurich , Perl , Saarburg , Sinz and Zerf
- Canton Schweich , 6 Mairien: Hetzerath , Longuich , Mehring , Schweich , Sehlem and Trittenheim
- Canton of Trier , 1 Mairie: Trier
- Canton Wittlich , 6 Mairien: Bengel , Kröv , Neuerburg , Osann , Salmrohr and Wittlich
In 1802/1803 the arrondissement comprised 12,762 buildings, houses, mills etc. and 66,196 inhabitants in a total of 203 municipalities.
Today the area belongs to the districts of Trier-Saarburg , Bernkastel-Wittlich and Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm and to the independent city of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate and the district of Merzig-Wadern in Saarland .
