After the French Revolution , the Left Bank of the Rhine and with it Talling were taken by France in 1794 . Talling was assigned to the canton Büdlich in the Saardepartement from 1798 to 1814 . Talling was the capital of a Mairie , which also included the municipalities of BerCE, Gielert, Lückenburg, Neunkirchen and Schönberg. Due to a law of March 26, 1798, the French repealed feudal rights in the region. After the end of French rule, the place came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 and became the administrative seat of the Talling mayor , to which six communities belonged. Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Until the municipal administration reform of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1969, the Hunsrück town was part of the Bernkastel district .
You can still find traces of the former Roman road that led from Trier to Mainz in the surrounding forests. According to legend, the Schinderhannes Cave is also located at the “Berrja Wacken”, a small rock group in the surrounding forests.
