Heidweiler is a municipality in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Wittlich-Land .
geography
The community is located in the Eastern Eifel in the Meulenwald conservation area . The Heidweiler Mühle residential area also belongs to Heidweiler.
history
Heidweiler was first mentioned in a document from 1303. The Archbishop of Trier Diether von Nassau confirmed the tenure of Heidweiler as a Wittum for his wife to the Emerich von Bruch .
Wonderfully country the place belonged to the late 18th century to the Duchy of Luxembourg and was part of the rule breaking .
After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . From 1795 to 1814 the place belonged to the canton of Dudeldorf in the department of forests .
In 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . In 1816, the municipality of Heidweiler became part of the Wittlich district in the Trier administrative district in the Grand Duchy of Lower Rhine province , which became part of the Rhine province in 1822.
