Reichstag elections

Before the First World War, the majority of the national liberals were elected in all parts of today's Kleinich community . In the election for the German National Assembly in January 1919, the DDP was the strongest force in the municipality. After the ratification of the Versailles Treaty , the co-ruling DDP lost a large part of its votes in the Reichstag election the following year, while the DVP was able to book the majority of the votes. As a result of the hyperinflation in 1923 , the national conservative DNVP obtained a majority in the May 1924 election. In December 1924 the DVP became the strongest force in Oberkleinich and Pilmeroth, in the other places the DNVP achieved the majority and came to 70 percent in Kleinich. Four years later, the right-wing CNBLP , which also represented the interests of small and medium-sized peasants , became the strongest party in all towns and achieved 85 out of 86 votes (98.8 percent) in the Götzeroth-Ilsbach constituency. The NSDAP received only one vote in total. In the following 29 months, however, the party was able to gain a growing following and achieved a share of the vote of 17.8 percent in the 1930 elections; in Oberkleinich the NSDAP received 49.1 percent of the vote, while in the other towns the CNBLP was able to maintain its majority. In the election in July 1932, the NSDAP was the strongest force in all places with an absolute majority, in Emmeroth with 96.2 percent of the vote. It benefited from the poor performance of the farmers' party, which fell from almost 70 percent and only received two votes. The NSDAP was able to assert itself as the strongest force in all subsequent elections to the Reichstag.

In the 1925 presidential election Paul von Hindenburg was elected by a majority ; in the 1932 election , his opponent Adolf Hitler received the majority of votes in the towns. In November 1933 there was a clear majority in favor of Germany leaving the League of Nations in the referendum .

Bundestag elections

In the first elections to the German Bundestag in 1949, the FDP achieved an absolute majority in almost all places, in Emmeroth the Liberals got 95 percent of the second vote; The FDP's share of the vote can be explained by the predominantly agricultural population. Only in Oberkleinich could the CDU get a majority of the votes. Four years later, the CDU was elected by a majority in all towns, while the FDP lost large parts of its electorate and was only able to achieve 6.3 percent of the votes in Emmeroth. The right-wing extremist German Reich Party (DRP) won 8.1 percent of the voters in the area of today's municipality (excluding Thalkleinich), in Pilmeroth the party achieved 36.1 percent. In 1961 the FDP was able to win again and achieved a majority in most places. While the Liberals gained 78.8 percent of the vote in Fronhofen, in Kleinich and Oberkleinich the SPD was able to assert itself for the first time as the strongest force with over 40 percent. In 1965 the SPD was again the strongest force in Kleinich and Oberkleinich, the FDP was only able to prevail in Fronhofen and Ilsbach. In the other places, the CDU emerged from the election with a majority. In the federal election four years later, the FDP in Fronhofen received 60 percent of the vote for the last time. With Ilsbach, the SPD became the strongest party in a third town, while the right-wing extremist NPD , which appeared for the first time, received 30.4 percent of the second vote and in all towns together 8.7 percent. The upward trend of the Social Democrats continued and in 1976 the SPD won 42.5 percent of the votes in the now eight districts of Kleinich, followed by the CDU 23.0 percent. Since then - contrary to the overall result in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich - there has always been a majority of Social Democrats in the federal elections. In September 2013 the SPD achieved a second vote share of 40.7 percent in the community, but the lead over the CDU decreased from over 17 to eight percent.

At the end of 1946, an application was made to the French military government to re-establish the association, which was granted the following year. The club was called "Schwarz-Weiß Kirchspiel Kleinich" because of its jersey color and in 1952 it was renamed "Turn- und Sportverein (TuS) Kleinich". After the Second World War, field handball was the main sport. In 1970 TuS Kleinich organized a handball tournament for the first time on Whitsun , which has been held annually since then. In 1979, teams from the Handbalvereniging Aristos Amsterdam took part in the tournament . To improve handball game operations , TuS Kleinich joined forces in March 1981 with TuS Irmenach-Beuren to form the handball community (HSG) Irmenach-Kleinich . In July 1991, after 18 months of construction, the Hirtenfeldhalle , which cost 2.5 million German marks, was completed as a new venue for the HSG Irmenach-Kleinich. After TuS Horbruch was accepted, the club was renamed HSG Irmenach-Kleinich-Horbruch in June 1999 . The club's greatest success is winning the Rhineland Cup in 1995, whereby the men's team qualified for the DHB Cup and reached the round of the last 64 teams.
