geography

The resort is located in the Eifel , 7 km east of Manderscheid .

Wallscheid includes the Lenzenhaus, Am Bahnhof, Kiefernhof and Tannenhof residential areas.

history

Before 771, Publlingen and thus the present-day Wallscheid was given to the Echternach monastery . The lords of Manderscheid were appointed as bailiffs by the abbey. From 1794 Wallscheid was under French rule, in 1814 the place was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Since 1946 it has been part of the newly founded state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Municipal council

The municipal council in Wallscheid consists of eight council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Worth mentioning is the Cornelius Chapel in Wallscheid, built in 1777
