Horath im Hunsrück is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Thalfang am Erbeskopf .

Horath borders in the east on the municipality of Morbach (district Haag ), in the south on the local communities Merschbach and Gräfendhron , in the west on the local communities Berleicht and Neumagen-Dhron (district Papiermühle) and in the north on the local community Piesport (district Niederemmel).

history

Local finds from the time of the Hallstatt and La Tène cultures are exhibited in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier . The first evidence of the village can be found in a deed of garnishment from Count Heinrich zu Salm from December 1, 1281. Due to the turmoil of the French Revolution , the place came under French rule around 1800 and in 1815 became part of the Kingdom of Prussia .
