Merschbach im Hunsrück is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Thalfang am Erbeskopf . The place is on the Merschbacher Bach, which flows into the Dhron .
history
Merschbach was first mentioned in a document in 1281, which then belonged to the Counts of Hunolstein . Due to the turmoil of the French Revolution , the place came under French rule around 1800 and became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Population development
Since the 1970s, the population of the community has fallen sharply; Merschbach had 109 inhabitants when the Verbandsgemeinde Thalfang am Erbeskopf was formed in 1970, but at the end of 2010 it was only 48.

Municipal council
The municipal council in Merschbach consists of six council members who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman. Iris Hornberg has been the incumbent since 2004.
