Dierfeld is a farm , an agricultural enterprise and a local community in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has been part of the Wittlich-Land community since July 1, 2014 , and before that of the Manderscheid community . On December 31, 2018, Dierfeld was among the smallest municipalities in Germany with a population of 12, on a par with Keppeshausen .
geography
Dierfeld is located in the Vulkaneifel Nature Park . The place can only be reached from the west via Kreisstraße 28 , which connects the place with Laufeld . Other neighboring towns are Wallscheid , Mückeln , Oberscheidweiler , Hasborn , Niederöfflingen and Oberöfflingen .
history
The place emerged from a hunting lodge that the Counts of Manderscheid had built in the 16th century.
Until the end of the 18th century, the "Dierfelderhof" belonged to the County of Manderscheid , which was part of the Duchy of Luxembourg . In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . Under the French administration , Dierfeld was assigned to the canton of Dudeldorf in the department of forests .
In 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . In 1816 Dierfeld came to the Wittlich district in the Trier administrative district in the Grand Duchy of Lower Rhine province , which was added to the Rhine province in 1822. Dierfeld belonged to the mayor's office of Laufeld . The municipality has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

Municipal council
The municipal council in Dierfeld consists of six council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

The local mayor of the community was Gerhard von Greve-Dierfeld. Roderich von Greve-Dierfeld has been the new local mayor since 2019.
In the case of elections to the European Parliament, Bundestag and Landtag, a common voting district with Manderscheid is formed to ensure voting secrecy .
The municipality Dierfeld is a debt-free community and has for years with a business tax - collection rate of 900 percent, the highest business tax rate in Germany with the absolute lowest revenue. The rate of assessment was decided among others by the honorary mayor of the municipality, who owns a local tree nursery .
