The Amt Falkenberg / Uebigau , also Amt Falkenberg-Uebigau , from 2002 Amt Falkenberg / Elster was an office established in Brandenburg in 1992 , in which eleven communities in the then Herzberg district (since 1993 Elbe-Elster district , Brandenburg) had merged to form an administrative association . The official seat was in the city of Falkenberg / Elster . The office was dissolved again in 2003. At the end of 2002 it had two communities with a total of 8075 inhabitants.

Geographical location

The office of Falkenberg / Uebigau was in the north of the (today's) district of Elbe-Elster . It bordered in the north on the Herzberg (Elster) office and on a very short distance also on the Schönewalde office , in the east on the Doberlug-Kirchhain office and the surrounding area , in the south on the Elsterland office , the Wahrenbrück office and the Mühlberg / Elbe office , and in the west to Saxony-Anhalt.

On July 13, 1992, the Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg gave his approval to the establishment of the Falkenberg-Uebigau office. July 21, 1992 was set as the date of establishment of the office. The office had its seat in the city of Falkenberg / Elster and was an office according to the official model 2, d. H. the city of Falkenberg / Elster was managing director. It initially consisted of eleven municipalities in what was then the Herzberg district (in the order in which they were named in the Official Journal):

  8. Schmerkendorf

On December 31, 1998, the municipality of Langennaundorf was incorporated into the city of Uebigau.

As of December 31, 2001, the communities of Beyern, Großrössen, Kölsa and Rehfeld are incorporated into the town of Falkenberg / Elster. Also on December 31, 2001, the communities Bahnsdorf, Drasdo and Wiederau and the city of Uebigau were incorporated into the city of Wahrenbrück. At the same time, the (remaining) office was renamed Falkenberg / Elster. At that time there were only two communities left: Schmerkendorf and the city of Falkenberg / Elster.

On October 26, 2003, the community of Schmerkendorf was incorporated into the town of Falkenberg / Elster by law. The office of Falkenberg / Elster was dissolved and the city of Falkenberg / Elster was made vacant.

The municipality of Schmerkendorf lodged a municipal constitutional complaint with the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg against its incorporation into the city of Falkenberg / Elster, some of which was rejected, the rest of which was rejected.
