The Office Herzberg (Elster) was an office in Brandenburg formed in 1992 , in which 13 municipalities in the then Herzberg district (since 1993 Elbe-Elster district , Brandenburg) had come together to form an administrative association. The official seat was in the city of Herzberg (Elster) . The office was dissolved again in 2001, most of the municipalities belonging to the office were incorporated into the city of Herzberg (Elster). Last (end of 2000) it had a total of 11,380 inhabitants.

Geographical location

The Herzberg (Elster) office bordered the Schönewalde office in the north, the Schlieben office in the east, the non-official cities Doberlug-Kirchhain , Uebigau-Wahrenbrück and Falkenberg / Elster in the south and the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the west .

The Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg approved the creation of the Herzberg (Elster) office on August 31, 1992. September 10, 1992 was set as the date on which the office was established. The office was based in the city of Herzberg (Elster) and consisted of 13 municipalities in what was then the Herzberg district (in the order in which they were named in the official gazette):

  5. Friedersdorf
  6. Graefendorf
  7. Mahdel
  8. Osteroda
  9. Polzen
  10. Löhsten
  11. Rahnisdorf

The municipality of Polzen formed the new municipality of Kremitzaue on December 31, 2001 together with the municipalities of Kolochau and Malitschkendorf ( office Schlieben ) and moved to the office of Schlieben.

As of December 31, 2001, the communities of Arnsnesta, Borken, Buckau, Fermerswalde, Friedersdorf, Gräfendorf, Löhsten, Mahdel, Osteroda, Rahnisdorf and Züllsdorf were incorporated into the city of Herzberg (Elster). The office of Herzberg (Elster) was dissolved at the same time.
