history

The street village was first mentioned in documents in 1271 with the name villa Greuendorp as a count's farm . At that time it was subservient to the Lords of Ileburg . From the 15th century to 1815, Graefendorf was part of the Electoral Saxon Liebenwerda office . Severe devastation occurred during the Thirty Years 'War , the Seven Years' War and the Wars of Liberation . As a result of the regulations of the Congress of Vienna , the village with around 200 inhabitants became part of the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony . In 1834 a school was built in the village. The half-timbered building was replaced by a new one in 1911.

The place is characterized in the present by three and four-sided courtyards, which date from the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century and whose properties are mostly located on the main street.
