Location of the Hüllhorst office in the Lübbecke district | ||
The Office Hüllhorst was an office based in Hüllhorst in the former Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The office was dissolved by the Bielefeld Act on December 31, 1972, the legal successor was the municipality of Hüllhorst. The municipality of Hüllhorst is largely congruent with the old office, which in this form is the exception in the district.
The office was south of the Wiehengebirge and bordered on the south and west of the Herford district .
At the time of the dissolution, the office had 11,349 inhabitants and was divided into nine municipalities
- Ahlsen-Reineberg ,
- Broderhausen ,
- Büttendorf ,
- Holsen ,
- Hoot ,
- Hüllhorst ,
- Upper peasantry ,
- Schnathorst , and
- Tengern .
The office was founded in 1843 under the name of Amt Schnathorst . From 1816 to 1831 its localities had belonged to the Bünde district before they were incorporated into the Lübbecke district. The Office Schnathorst was renamed to Office Hüllhorst between 1866 and 1871 . In 1909 the community of Huchzen was reorganized by hiving off from Tengern.
The office was dominated by agriculture. The cigar industry , in which more than 380 workers were employed at peak times, became less and less important.
