The mayor's office of Neuerburg was one of initially ten Prussian mayor's offices into which the Neuwied district, formed in 1816 in the Koblenz administrative district, was administratively divided. history

The administrative area of the mayor's office of Neuerburg was part of the Neuerburg office in the Electorate of Cologne from the 13th century to the beginning of the 19th century . Due to the 1801 peace treaty of Lunéville and the result of the Reichsdeputation Hauptschluss , Prince zu Wied-Runkel received, among other things, the office of Neuerburg in 1803 for his territorial losses in the area of the Left Bank of the Rhine . In 1806 the area came to the Duchy of Nassau and after the treaties at the Congress of Vienna in 1815 to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, administrative districts , districts and mayor's offices as well as associated communities were formed in 1816 . The mayor Neuerburg belonged to the circle Neuwied in Koblenz . In 1822 the district of Neuwied and with it the mayor's office of Neuerburg became part of the then newly formed Rhine province .

Like all the mayor's offices in the Rhine Province, the Neuerburg mayor's office was renamed "Amt Neuerburg" in 1927. This "new Neuerburg Office" had almost the same territorial status as the previous Electoral Cologne Office of the same name, but had completely different administrative structures.
