history

The mayor's office Altenwied was one of three mayor's offices that arose after 1815 from the previous Electoral Cologne office of Altenwied , which had existed since the middle of the 13th century .

The rule of Kurköln ended in 1803 after more than 500 years with the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss . The area of the Altenwied office was initially assigned to the Principality of Wied-Runkel and became part of the Duchy of Nassau in 1806 due to the Rhine Confederation Act . As part of the Duchy of Nassau there was also an office in Altenwied . After the Congress of Vienna the area was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815.

The mayor's office Altenwied was dissolved in 1823 and divided between the two other mayor's offices of Asbach and Neustadt, which had emerged from the Altenwied office . The honors Bühlingen, Elsaff im Thal and Lohrscheid came to the mayor's office Neustadt-Wied, Rederscheid and Windhagen came to the mayor's office Asbach.
