District Court North

The North District Court is one of five district courts in the district of the Aurich District Court . It is based in the north in Lower Saxony .

Responsibilities

The North District Court is responsible for the cities of Norden and Norderney , the municipalities of Baltrum , Dornum , Großheide and Juist , the joint municipalities of Brookmerland and Hage and the municipality-free area of ​​the North Sea island of Memmert . The Aurich Regional Court is superior to it. The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court in Oldenburg .

history

With the Courts Constitution Act , the North District Court was established on October 1, 1852. In 1932 the district court district of Baltrum was assigned to the district of Norden. The prison was closed in late 1951. In 1972 the North District Court received additional jurisdiction from the Esens and Emden District Courts . The current main building was completed in 1978.
