The district court Leer is one of five district courts in the district of the district court Aurich . It is based in Leer in Lower Saxony .

Responsibilities

The district court of Leer is responsible for the cities of Leer and Weener and the municipalities or joint municipalities of Bunde , Hesel , Jemgum , Jümme , Moormerland , Ostrhauderfehn , Rhauderfehn , Uplengen and Westoverledingen . The Aurich Regional Court is superior to it. The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court in Oldenburg .

history

District Court Leer (new building)

The service building was built in 1752. On October 1, 1852, the local courts in Lower Saxony were established with the Courts Constitution Act. Since 1864 the building has been used exclusively by the Leer District Court. In 1896 and 1902 additions were made to the building and the connection to the water supply. In 1913 the connection to the electrical power grid followed. The building was hardly damaged in the war , so that work could already be resumed in October 1945. In 1959 the prison was lifted to make way for a new extension. In 1972 the district of the Weener District Court was added. Since 1978 all departments of the district court have been brought together again under one roof.

cases

In the summer of 2014, a case became known in which a parcel carrier was tried for exhibitionism . He is said to have let his penis hang out of his pants when a package was handed over. The judge in charge ordered the penis to be measured to see if it could hang out of his pants.
