Amy Cragg (* 21st January 1984 in Long Beach , California as Amy Hastings ) is an American long-distance runner .
Life
Amy Hastings was born in Long Beach , California and attended Leavenworth High School in Leavenworth , Kansas .
In 2010 she took part in the Cross Country World Championships in Bydgoszcz , where she finished 25th and also secured the bronze medal in the team championship with the American team. Amy Hasting started on March 20, 2011 at the Los Angeles Marathon 2011 and with her personal best of 2:27:03 h finished second behind Bizunesh Deba and thus for the first time a podium in the marathon.
At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , Amy Hastings reached eleventh place in the 10,000 meter competition with a time of 31: 10.69 minutes.
Amy Hasting took part in the World Championships in Moscow in August 2013 and finished 14th over the 10,000 meters with a time of 32: 51.19 minutes.
On October 12, 2014, Hastings missed third place by just one second in the 2014 Chicago Marathon, finishing fourth.
In the fall of 2014, she married the Irish long-distance runner Alistair Cragg and took his last name.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Cragg finished ninth in the marathon with a time of 2:28:25 h.
In 2017 she started the marathon of the 2017 World Championships in London and won the bronze medal with a season best of 2:27:18 h behind Rose Chelimo and Edna Ngeringwony Kiplagat . This was the first world championship medal in the marathon for an American woman since Marianne Dickerson won silver at the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki .
