Ana Ularu (born June 26, 1985 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian actress .

Life

As a child, Ularu began to play in French television productions. At 16 she played the leading role in Nabokov's stage adaptation Lolita . This performance guaranteed her entry into a film career with now more than 25 film titles.

Movie

After graduating from the National University for Film and Theater Studies in 2012, she was the Berlinale - Shooting Star for Romania. In Susanne Biers Serena she can be seen alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper . She plays Charlotte D'Albert in the series The Borgias , and she is involved in the Pinewood Pictures production Camera Trap , the thriller Thursday and the Italian sci-fi drama Index Zero .

Ularu's performance as Matilda in Bogdan George Apetris Periferic brought her numerous awards for best actress, such as the Boccalino d'Oro Prize at the Locarno International Film Festival and a special mention by the jury at the Warsaw International Film Festival . Among her recent films are Daniele Vicaris Diaz and Francis Ford Coppola's Youth Without Youth .

In 2004 she received the Best Actress Award from the Romanian Film Guild and the Actress of the Year Award from the Romanian Film Critics Association.

Ularu's theatrical successes include leading roles in Bulandra's production of The Good Man of Sezuan and The Threepenny Opera at the National Operetta Theater in Bucharest. For the latter, she received the award for best leading actress in the context of the UNATC awards. Other theater productions Ana Ularu has worked on are: Epic Gilgamesh , The Atreides Trilogy and Shakespeare's Measure for Measure . On Romanian television Ularu was seen in the first season of the TV series One Step Forward ( Cu un pas înainte ).

singer

Although primarily an actress, she is also a passionate jazz singer. She appears as a soloist in the band "Sunday People" of the brothers Hassan and Sultan Nasser.
