Svanebo made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in November 2004 at the 15 km classic race in Gällivare , which he finished in 94th place. In February 2010 he reached the 15 km freestyle in Sigulda with eighth place, his first top 10 result in the Scandinavian Cup and two weeks later won the 15 km freestyle pursuit in Spåtind . With the Swedish relay, Svanebo finished ninth at the World Cup in Lahti in March of the same year. At the beginning of January 2015 he took part in the Tour de Ski , which he finished 36th, and later in the month achieved his first World Cup points with 24th place in the 15 km freestyle and 22nd place in the skiathlon in Rybinsk . At the World Cup in Östersund in February 2015, Svanebo placed 26th over 15 km freestyle again in the points; later that month he finished fourth in the Scandinavian Cup in the 30 km freestyle mass start race in Madona . At the end of March 2017 he became the Swedish champion over 50 km freestyle in Umeå .
In Rollerski Svanebo was 2011 Swedish Champion, won at the World Championships 2013 in Bad Peterstal two bronze medals as well as 2011 in Kristiansund gold with the Swedish season, scoring a total of seven World Cup victories. In 2012 he won the overall roller ski world cup. At the 2017 Rollerski World Championships in Sollefteå , he won the silver medal in the 20 km mass start race and the gold medal in the 22.5 km freestyle.
