Ron Kroon : Bourvil (1967)

Bourvil , actually André Robert Raimbourg (born July 27, 1917 in Prétot-Vicquemare , Seine-Inférieure , † September 23, 1970 in Paris ), was a French actor and chansonnier .

Life

Bourvils grave in Montainville

André Bourvil came from a Norman farming family. As a teenager he admired Fernandel and wanted to become an artist like him. Drafted for military service in 1937, he served as a cornetist in the 24th Infantry Regiment until France's surrender in 1940 . Then he began as a grotesque comedian and musical clown on the cabaret stage and on the radio. He was later discovered for the film. In addition to comic roles, he also played classic character roles, he was often seen in films by his friend, director Alex Joffé . His star role, however, was the friendly and naive counterpart to Louis de Funès ' choleric characters in his films.

In order to avoid confusion with his cousin and fellow actor Lucien Raimbourg, he adopted the stage name Bourvil , based on the place of his childhood and birthplace of his mother, Bourville in the Seine-Maritime department in Normandy .

Bourvil died of Kahler's disease on September 23, 1970, at the age of 53 . He was buried in the Montainville cemetery in the Yvelines department in France .
