Andrea Hübner (born February 17, 1957 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the GDR .

Career

She experienced the high point of her career right at the beginning of her career when she won the 200 meter medley title in a world record time at the first swimming world championships in 1973 in Belgrade . She also won the GDR's 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay. A year later she won the silver medal at the European Championships in Vienna on her special route. After only two years on the international stage, she ended her swimming career in 1974 . She started for the SC Karl-Marx-Stadt . In 1974 she received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Today Andrea Hübner works as a doctor and lives near Stuttgart . She is the sister of the multiple track cycling world champion Michael Huebner .
