Andrea Haaser , married Sendlhofer , (born February 5, 1961 in Schwaz ) is a former Austrian ski racer . She finished in the top ten four times in the World Cup , won a race in the European Cup and in 1979 was the European Junior Downhill Champion .

biography

Haaser came to ski racing at an early age and completed her first races during her elementary school days. Then she attended the main ski school in Neustift in the Stubaital and then the ski trade school in Stams . Haaser started in the 1977/78 season for the first time in the European Cup and achieved two third places this winter. Also in 1978 she won all competitions at the Austrian youth championships in Bad Gastein .

In the 1978/79 season Haaser celebrated her first and only European Cup victory in the giant slalom in Puy-Saint-Vincent ; in the overall European Cup rankings, she finished seventh. In the same winter , the then 17-year-old also made her first appearances in the World Cup . With a sixth place in the combination of Val-d'Isère and a seventh place in the combination of Meiringen / Hasliberg , she immediately made it into the top ten twice. Haaser was also successful at the 1979 European Junior Championships in Achenkirch , Germany, where she won the gold medal in the downhill and the silver medal in the giant slalom.

In the 1979/80 season Haaser again achieved two top 10 places in the World Cup with a tenth place in the downhill from Piancavallo and a resulting sixth place in the combination with the giant slalom of Limone Piemonte . However, her breakthrough to the top of the world did not succeed. In the 1980/81 season a 13th place in the downhill of the Krummholzrennen in Haus im Ennstal was her best World Cup result, which is why she continued to be used in the European Cup in addition to the World Cup.

Haaser had to end her career at the age of 20 after suffering serious injuries in the fall of 1981 while preparing for the next season. However, she remained connected to ski racing. Haaser took part in Masters races for many years and coached a junior team. Her son Lukas, who was born in 1996, also started skiing.
