Andreas Gillardon the Younger

Andreas Gillardon the Younger (born November 21, 1697 in Grüsch , † September 22, 1751 in Maienfeld ) was a Swiss Reformed pastor .

Life

Andreas Gillardon the Younger was born on November 21, 1697 as the eldest son of Andreas Gillardon the Elder and Margreth Täscher in Grüsch in the canton of Graubünden . After he was taught by his father, he attended a school in Halle from 1714 ; he had been at the Latin school there since April 26, 1714 and was the first student from Graubünden there. From 1716, he first studied at the University of Berne , then at the in Bern , and finally at the University of Basel theology . In 1718 he was accepted into the Evangelical-Rhaetian Synod in Samaden .

Since he was therefore allowed to work as a pastor, Gillardon worked as a pastor in Valzeina from the same year and replaced his father in Grüsch in 1719. In 1736 he moved to Maienfeld, where he worked until his death on September 22, 1751. Like his father, he was one of the most important pietists in Graubünden.
