Andrei Michailowitsch Mishin , Russian; Andrey Mikhaylovich Mishin , Cyrillic; Андрей Михайлович Мишин (born May 28, 1979 in Novochunka , Irkutsk Oblast ) is a former Russian amateur boxer.

Career

He won the 1997 light welterweight junior European championships in Birmingham and 1998 welterweight the Goodwill Games in New York City . In 1999, 2001 and 2002 he was Russian light middleweight champion.

In May 2000 he took part in the light middleweight division at the European Championships in Tampere , came through victories a. a. against Nikola Sjekloća to the final and was only defeated there by the German Felix Sturm . In September of the same year he started in the light middleweight division at the Summer Olympics in Sydney , where he was eliminated in the preliminary round against Frédéric Esther (11:16).

At the 2001 World Championships in Belfast , he lost just a little in the quarter-finals to Marian Simion (20:21) from Romania and got out in 5th place. For this he won the European Championships in Perm in July 2002 ; he sat in the light middleweight division against Viktor Polyakov from Ukraine (17:13), Dimitri Serdjoek from the Netherlands (tKo), Bülent Ulusoy from Turkey (28:19), Marian Simion from Romania (28:19) and Lukas Wilaschek from Germany (tKo) through.

In 2003 he again reached a 5th place at the World Championships in Bangkok after he was eliminated in the welterweight quarter-finals against Ruslan Chairow (11:18).
