Andreja Koblar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreja Koblar , best known during her active career as Andreja Grašič (born September 2, 1971 in Kranj ), is a former Slovenian biathlete .

Andreja Koblar, who now lives in Krize , started biathlon in 1993 and has since been a member of the national team in her country. In the same year she made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup at the season opener in Bad Gastein , where she immediately finished 24th in an individual. A year later, again in Bad Gastein, she came in seventh in a sprint for the first time in the top ten. She was able to show her most outstanding results on individual courses. Here she won three World Cup races (1995/96 in Osrblie , 1996/97 in Nozawa Onsen and 1997/98 in Östersund ). A total of nine times - in addition to seven times in singles and twice in sprints - she was able to get places on the podium. In 1996 she finished the World Cup season in fourth place overall, in 1998 she was sixth, 1996 eighth.

Between 1995 and 2005 Koblar took part in nine world championships . Her best results were a sixth place in the 1995 sprint in Antholz , a fourth place in 1999 at Holmenkollen in the mass start and a seventh place in their 2001 home world championships in Pokljuka singles . She took part in the Olympic Games in Nagano in 1998 , in Salt Lake City in 2002 and in Turin in 2006 . In 1998 she started in singles (44th) and sprint (18th), more successfully in 2002 in singles (5th) and sprint (12th) and in the relay (9th). In 2006 she only achieved a 56th place in her special discipline, the individual, but a tenth place in the sprint and an eighth place in the pursuit as well as a sixth place with the relay.

Since she could no longer qualify for the World Cup team for the 2006/07 season, her career ended at the age of 35. At the World Cup race in her home country on January 17, 2007, as a thank you for her services to the Slovenian biathlon sport, she was allowed to start again, with which she could say goodbye to her fans. She started the race with a Slovenian flag in hand, which she held in her hand for the entire race, but finished after the first shooting.

Koblar is married to the alpine skier Jernej Koblar and works as a trainer for the Slovenian army. Before starting her career, she was a ski cross runner. The start of her career was still quite difficult as she was the only woman on the national team at the beginning of her career.
