Andrew Wooten (born September 30, 1989 in Bamberg ) is a German-American football player who is under contract with Philadelphia Union in the Major League Soccer .
Career
In the club
The striker played for Wormatia Worms until 2009 before moving to league rivals 1. FC Kaiserslautern II, for whom he scored 18 goals in 46 league games in two seasons of the Regionalliga West . His contract ran until June 30, 2012. In the 2011/12 season he was second on the list of goalscorers of the Regionalliga West with 20 goals for the FCK reserve.
On March 3, 2012 (24th matchday), Wooten made his Bundesliga debut against VfL Wolfsburg . In April 2012 he signed his first licensed player contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, which ran until June 2015 and was valid for the first and second Bundesliga. On April 21, 2012, he scored his first Bundesliga goal in the game against Hertha BSC . On August 23, 2012, Wooten moved on loan to the second division SV Sandhausen until 2013 , for whom he scored seven goals in 28 games in the 2012/13 season . During the 2014 winter break, FSV Frankfurt signed him on loan until the end of the season. After the end of the season, 1. FC Kaiserslautern finally announced that they would no longer plan with Wooten, whereupon his contract was terminated.
For the 2014/15 season he finally moved back to SV Sandhausen, where he signed a three-year contract. With 17 goals this season he beat the club's internal second division goal record by 3 goals in the 2018/19 season . The striker did not extend his contract, which expired at the end of the season, in favor of a move to the US Major League Soccer at Philadelphia Union .
National team
Wooten was invited to courses for the US U23 national team during the 2011/12 season.
In October 2015, at the age of 26, he made his debut under coach Jürgen Klinsmann for the American senior team in the international match against Costa Rica (0: 1).
