Andri Mikaelsson (born December 5, 1990 ) is an Icelandic ice hockey player who has been under contract with Skautafélag Akureyrar in the Icelandic ice hockey league since 2014 .

Career

Andri Mikaelsson began his career as a hockey player with Skautafélag Akureyrar , with whom he became Icelandic champion in 2008 . In 2009 he switched to Mörrums GoIS IK , for which he was on the ice in the Swedish J20 elite. For the 2010/11 season he returned to Iceland and played there for three years both for the first team of Skautafélag Akureyrar, SA Vikingar , and for the club's second team, SA Jötnar . With the Vikingar he won the Icelandic national championship title again in 2011 and as team captain in 2013. After this success he moved again to Sweden, where he played a season at Åseda IF in Swedish Division 2 , the fourth highest division in the country. Since 2014 he has been playing again for Skautafélag Akureyrar, with whom he became Icelandic champion again in 2015 and 2016. In the 2015/16 season he achieved the best plus / minus balance in the Icelandic league.

International

Andri played for Iceland as a teenager. He participated in Division III of the U-18 World Championships in 2007 and 2008 as well as the Division II tournament of the U-20 World Championships in 2008 and the Division III tournament of the U-20 World Championships in 2010 , when the Icelanders were promoted to Division II succeeded in taking part.

Andri played for the men's national team in Division II at the 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 World Championships . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
