Andrija Žižić (born January 14, 1980 in Split , SR Croatia ) is a Croatian basketball player who plays with a height of 2.06 m on the position of the center . As a player, Žižić won the national championships in Croatia, Greece and Israel with his respective clubs . He was also in the squad of Maccabi Tel Aviv, when they won the ULEB Euroleague 2013/14 in addition to the national double and thus a triple crown .

Career

Andrija Žižić began his career in the Croatian youth team Omiš Mosor where he played until 1997. His first professional contract was with the second division Plastic Solin where he stayed for one season. In 1998 Žižić moved to the traditional club KK Split where he won the Croatian championship in 2003, winning the first title of his career. After another stop at Cibona Zagreb , with whom Žižić debuted for the first time in the ULEB Euroleague , he moved abroad to FC Barcelona in January 2005 . In the summer of the same year Žižić moved to Olympiacos in Greece . Although Žižić was one of the most constant and best players at Piraeus and his contract was prematurely extended by three years in May 2007, the contract with Žižić, contrary to all expectations, was terminated in July 2007 and the player moved to arch rivals Panathinaikos Athens on a free transfer. After a championship with defending champion Panathinaikos, he moved to the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi to Galatasaray in Istanbul . After a season he returned to his native Croatia in 2009, where he played for Cedevita and Cibona Zagreb with a one-year break at ASVEL in the French LNB Pro A until 2013. In the winter of 2013/14 he first moved to Kazakhstan for BK Astana, before he was in the squad for the rest of the season with the Israeli record champions Maccabi Tel Aviv. Without a long time he was involved in Maccabi's title success in all three competitions. In addition to the national double , the Israeli record champions surprisingly won the ULEB Euroleague 2013/14 and thus a triple crown at the end of the season .

Žižić was a member of the Croatian national team and took part with this in the European Championships in 2003 and 2005 . With the youth teams Žižić reached EM silver and World Cup bronze.
