Angel X

Angel X (born May 23, 1972 in Munich ), also known as Andy Jonas is a German singer / songwriter and music producer . He became known as the singer of the hit Return to Innocence of the Enigma project , produced by the German-Romanian music producer Michael Cretu .

Life

Andy Jonas, bourgeois Andreas Harde, grew up with his sister as the son of a lawyer and the daughter of the well-known post-war singer Rudi Schuricke ( Capri-Fischer ) in Amerang am Chiemsee . He composed his first songs at the age of five. He received classical piano and accordion lessons.

After spending several years in a boarding school in the Redemptorist monastery in Gars am Inn , he moved back to Munich at the age of 13. During his school days he started recording demos of his own songs. He played several years as a DJ in several Munich clubs, including the well-known Munich live club "Domizil" . Here he got to know the well-known musicians and music publishers Tom Scherer and Andreas List, who invited him to their recording studio to sing several demos there. The recordings that were made here were heard by Frank Peterson , creator of Gregorian and former musical partner of Michael Cretu. He invited him to test recordings in Cretus' studio in Munich-Grünwald.

Collaboration with Michael Cretu

In 1988 Jonas was offered a contract with the company Mambo-Musik after test recordings. Soon afterwards he received the offer to work as a guest singer of the famous singer Sandra , the wife of Cretu at the time, in Ibiza . In 1990 he worked on the titles Love Turns to Pain , I Need Love , Mirrored in Your Eyes and others. a. from the album Close to Seven (Polydor, Universal Music) and others.

In 1993 Michael Cretu released the song Return to Innocence (Virgin Ger, EMI) as part of the Enigma project , sung by Andy Jonas. His voice is arguably one of the best known of the long list of Enigma hits because the title was one of the world's greatest hits from the Enigma project. Was also Return to Innocence an important song at the opening ceremony of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , USA, and thereby achieved worldwide attention.

In 1993 the album Welcome to the Soul Asylum was released worldwide under his stage name "Angel X" by the label Sony Music, which among other things charted in the Top 100 of MediaControl. It was produced by Michael Cretu and co-produced by Jens Gad . Three singles were released: In the Name of Love , I Would Never Fall in Love with You Again and Bring My Soul Back to You .

More productions

In 2002 Jonas composed and wrote the song I Close My Eyes for Sandra, which landed at number 93 in the German single charts .

From 1997 Andy Jonas worked increasingly as a producer and produced with his then musical partner Julian Feifel the hit Round 'n' Round (It Goes) by the German artist Gil Ofarim , for which Andy also contributed music and text. The title achieved a total of ten gold and two platinum records as well as two double platinum records worldwide.

The follow-up hit Talk to You was composed by Andy Jonas together with Gil Ofarim and texted by Andy together with Leslie Mandoki . Angel contributed a total of six tracks to Gil Ofarim's debut album Here I Am .

In 1998 the top 10 hit We Gonna Stay Together was produced, composed and written with Marienhof leading actress Judith Hildebrandt and her debut album Judith was produced and composed .

Also in 1988, the production and songwriting for the title song of the album Nostradamus with the song Amarilli under the pseudonym No Means Yes , another Europe-wide chart success.

Many other productions and compositions followed, such as B. the band UNS 5 (United Nations Stars) and many other well-known artists such. B. Nicole ( You're crazy ) or Chris Le Blanc ( Drive ).

Daydreamer (band)

In 2000 Andy Jonas founded the band Tagträumer. Two albums were released: 2001 Too Much Is Not Enough (Sony Music - Berlin Records) and 2003 Open Your Eyes (Koch-Universal).

The band took part twice in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest , in 2001 and 2003.

The release of a new album entitled Tagdäumerland took place under his stage name Andy Jonas in 2017 on the DA Music label. Released as singles: Let the summer in your heart , Hold me , Damn I miss you , Like the wind and give me your hand .

In 2005, an after-work meditation CD and DVD series was published by the Audio-Media distribution label.

Tours

  • In 2012 there were several television (e.g. television garden ) and live performances with the singer Sandra in Germany and Poland.
  • In 2017 there was the first tour together with Andru Donalds under the name Classic Enigma Voices through Belarus, Russia, Ukraine.
  • In 2019 another tour followed with Andru Donalds, Fox Lima and Angel X with concerts in the USA, Israel, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland etc. under the name Original Enigma Voices .
  • For 2020, the release of a new album under the name Angel X with the title Life of Evanescence is planned.
  • Further concerts with Original Enigma Voices are planned for 2020/2021 , the tour should start on November 13, 2020 in Riga .

Trivia

Andy Jonas, as a graduate social pedagogue with a focus on media pedagogy, regularly advocates the support of disadvantaged young people, e.g. B. with his project Music4Kids.

He is also committed to organ donation together with many other prominent artists, e. B. at the organ donation day in Hannover 2016.
