I Close My Eyes was written by Michael Cretu with Andy Jonas and produced by Cretu with Jens Gad . Jonas had already contributed the male vocals on Close to Seven and Fading Shades . It's a pop ballad . The protagonist in the lyrics of the song feels alone and abandoned after the end of a relationship and asks the other person to be there for her.
The maxi single was released on November 11, 2002 on Virgin Records . It contains the other songs Forgive Me (Chill Out radio mix) and The Wheel of Time , the title track of Sandra's current album at the time. The video for the song Forever was also included.
