(I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena is a 1985 song by Sandra , written by Michael Cretu , Hubert Kah , Markus Löhr and Richard Palmer-James . In December 1985 it also appeared on the album The Long Play .

content

A relationship is sung about that threatens to fail because the female partner also pursues other amorous adventures. The song and its title allude to the person of Mary Magdalene , the companion of Jesus , who, according to church history, initially earned her living with charitable services that were paid for , but was finally refined morally after Jesus cast out seven demons from her (Lk 8.2 EU; Mk 16.9 EU). In contrast, the woman sung about in the song holds on to other relationships and at the same time leads a life of complete sexual freedom.
